Phonics

Course Introduction

  • State Standard driven. This curriculum follows CA State Standards and all phonics and speaking and listening skills are derived from Kindergarten readiness assessments. 

  • Lessons are made using research-based techniques and strategies. 

  • Students will become fluent in the first four sets of Dolch Sight words to support future reading fluency and build a receptive and expressive vocabulary. 

  • Each session focuses on a particular skill or state standard and will be adjusted based on the student’s level of knowledge or needs. 

  • Each lesson includes a dialogue skill that focuses on a pre-kindergarten or kindergarten speaking and listening goal such as self-awareness, imagination, problem-solving, engagement, etc. 

  • By attending a total of 15 sessions in each of the four levels, the students will gain a base knowledge that they can use to enter kindergarten and thrive as productive classmates and students. 

Class Structure

  • Classes assigned to teachers with the most grade-level experience and subject-specific knowledge

  • Each class has no more than 4 students 

  • Classes delivered through interactive Zoom meetings

  • Homework provided for each session
